Rain and a little shaking of the earth

It was overcast all day today and threatening to rain so I went to the Okinawa Museum of History. Very interesting displays about the history of Okinawa from its beginnings as the Ryukyu Kingdom through the conquest of the islands by the Japanese and up to the devastation of WWII. While in the museum there were two minor tremors that seemed to set a few of the Japanese visitors more on edge than me. Nothing came of it and the museum staff ran around assuring everyone that everything was alright.

Unfortunately no photography of the exhibits was allowed at all, so all I have to show for my day is one picture of the outside of the museum.

After visiting the museum I wandered through a large shopping complex. If it wasn't for the fact that everyone else was Japanese I could have been in any mall back home. All the same stores and pretty much all the same items to buy.

I headed back towards my hotel and since it was still only threatening to rain I decided to walk down towards the beach. It was about 1.5 to 2 kms away from the hotel. By the time I got there it started to rain lightly so I snapped a few photos and headed back to the hotel.

The beach.

Looks pretty nice despite the weather.

Or...maybe not.

Checking the weather forecast shows rain for the rest of the week. Sigh.
